Software Engineer (Mid-level to Staff+)

We are looking for a talented, hands-on Software Engineer to join a fast-moving AI-focused technology team in San Francisco for one of our client. You will work across product engineering, backend platforms, and AI infrastructure, taking end-to-end ownership of features and systems from development through deployment. This is an individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working across the stack, and building impactful products in a highly collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software across the full technology stack.
• Build user-facing web and mobile experiences using modern frontend technologies.
• Develop scalable backend APIs, services, integrations, and platform infrastructure.
• Work with AI-powered systems, agent workflows, and related infrastructure.
• Take ownership of features and systems from concept through production.
• Build and maintain reliable, scalable, and maintainable software.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications at the application, container, and infrastructure levels.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers and product stakeholders to solve complex technical problems.
• Contribute to technical architecture, engineering decisions, and product development.
• Stay current with emerging AI and software engineering technologies and apply them effectively.
• Use modern AI tools and development workflows to improve productivity and engineering outcomes.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2–15 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience building and shipping production software. Hands-on experience with TypeScript, including Node.js backend and React frontend development. Professional experience with Python. Experience working with GCP and Docker. Experience deploying, monitoring, debugging, and maintaining production systems. Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering principles. Demonstrated ability to independently own projects and deliver production-quality solutions. Willingness to work as a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) and write code regularly. Ability to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week.
• Experience with Kubernetes and distributed systems.
• Experience building AI agents, AI infrastructure, or model-serving systems.
• Experience with execution environments, sandboxes, or developer platforms.
• Experience designing scalable backend systems and third-party integrations.
• Strong problem-solving and first-principles thinking.
• Experience working in fast-paced startup or product-focused engineering environments
